When do I need to begin using my work-study funding?

Federal Work-Study funding is always in short supply. You must find a work-study position, complete all necessary paperwork, and notify TVCC Financial Aid of your employment within the first two weeks of the quarter or your work-study funds will be offered to someone else. Also, your work-study funding may be adjusted if it is determined that you are no longer working or are no longer working sufficient hours to continue in your position.

Why do some students get work-study funding and some don't?

TVCC has a limited amount of funding from the U.S. Department of Education each year to award to students in the form of work-study dollars. This funding is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to those students who meet the eligibility criteria. Funding for work-study positions goes to students who complete their FAFSA's and financial aid files first. Usually, some students do not accept their work-study awards. Those funds are awarded again to students on a first-come first-served basis that have indicated their interest in the work-study program and have placed their name on a waiting list.
